Narrative CV SMH I completed my medical board examination and thesis (M.D.) in 1991, followed by 2 years of cardiovascular surgery. With the rapid evolution of IR, I decided to switch to Radiology at the University Hospital Kiel. After receiving my board certification in Radiology in 1998, I became an associate Professor in 2000 and finally Professor of Radiology in 2004. In 2007, I completed economic health studies and became the head of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology&Neuroradiology at the Deaconess Hospital Flensburg, Academic Hospital of Kiel University. My scientific career includes 181 peer reviewed publications, more than 700 lectures, several book chapters and 2 books on complications in IR and their management. These contributions were honored by several national and international grants (“Medical Digital Imaging Grant" ECR; Horst-Seils-Grant North-German Roentgen-Society; Hermann-Holtusen-Ring and Eugenie-and-Felix-Wachsamann-Grant German Roentgen- Society; Key-Note-Speaker Award C3) and editorial board memberships (Cardiovasc Interv Radiol, Eur J Rad, J Endovasc Ther, Angiology). Since many years I serve for CIRSE, currently in the position of an Executive Board member in the function of Treasurer.
